Bias Tape for Pants
In pants, bias tape can be used on textile edges or details specified by the pattern. The photograph shows a sportswear design; it does not establish the fiber content or stretch of its finishes.
Before choosing tape, distinguish an edge finish from a decorative strip sewn onto the fabric. Their placement and stitching are different.
Identify the application area
Mark the edge or detail on a sample. If the tape covers an internal join, check the finished thickness; if it remains visible, define the width and position within the design.
What to consider when choosing tape
Consider the behavior of the garment fabric and the shape of the piece. Do not assume tape is elastic because it is used in sportswear. Discuss the material and check a sewn sample.
Compare single-fold and double-fold tape.
Manufacturing for production
For batch production, specify the model, finish and expected tape consumption. Discuss packaging and contract manufacturing with your own fabric according to the work required.
