Bias Tape for Caps

Cap with a white front and dark peak

A cap combines small textile pieces and joins that may need a tape finish. The exact placement is defined by the pattern and the model sample.

A textile binding is different from the structure of the peak. When asking about bias tape, identify the fabric edge you want to finish.

Finishing textile components

Provide a sample of the join or opening where the tape will sit. On tight curves, check that the finish follows the outline and the fold fits within the available space.

What to consider when choosing tape

Review the stitching allowance, the buildup of layers and whether the tape will show. Do not select a format solely from the finished cap’s appearance; internal construction matters too.

Compare single-fold and double-fold tape.

Manufacturing for production

For a run of caps, share the seam detail and planned quantity. Ask about materials and formats for that finish, or tape made from your fabric when the design requires it.
