Bias Tape for Blouses

Yellow long-sleeved blouse

A blouse neckline can turn to the inside or have visible binding around the opening. Bias tape provides a way to finish that edge when the garment construction allows it.

The finish is part of the design: a contrasting color defines the neckline, while matching tape blends into the main fabric.

Following necklines and armholes

On a curved outline, place a tape sample without pulling the main fabric. Check the join when the finish is turned and whether the edge keeps the shape specified by the pattern.

What to consider when choosing tape

Consider the blouse’s thickness and drape. The tape width and fold should complete the finish without adding bulk that the design does not allow for.

Compare single-fold and double-fold tape.

Manufacturing for production

For a manufacturing enquiry, share the fabric and a finished neckline sample. Ask about tape made from customer-supplied fabric when the garment and finish need the same textile.
