Bias Tape for Pillows
A pillow edge can have a flat binding or a raised outline. Bias tape helps define that line without changing the main fabric of the cover.
Corded piping is used to outline cushions. The color can match the cover or contrast with it to make the outline stand out.
Finishing the cover’s outline
The trim follows the join between the two faces of the cover. Flat tape finishes the edge, while a cord inside the tape creates a raised outline. Check a sewn sample at the corners to see how the layers sit together.
What to consider when choosing tape
Decide whether you want a flat or raised edge and how much trim should show. The cover’s thickness affects the width needed. Bring a fabric and finish sample when discussing material, color and packaging.
Compare single-fold and double-fold tape.
Manufacturing for production
For a run of covers, specify the edge finish and the number of pieces you plan to make. Our contract manufacturing service lets you ask about tape made from your own fabric when the trim needs to match the cover.
