Bias Tape for Kitchen textiles
Aprons, cloths and other kitchen textiles have edges that can be finished with bias tape. Binding covers the edge and can match the item or outline it with a contrasting color.
The photograph shows checked fabric. For a specific design, decide whether the binding will run around the whole piece or only part of it.
Straight edges, curves and corners
An apron may combine straight and curved edges. A rectangular cloth requires a finish at the corners. Make a sample of each change in direction before repeating the binding around the item.
What to consider when choosing tape
Consider the number of layers at the edge, the visible width and the tape format. Check the result with the actual fabric; a binding finish does not establish thermal properties.
Compare single-fold and double-fold tape.
Manufacturing for production
For kitchen textile production, specify the item, the tape’s path and the planned quantity. Ask about cotton or light cotton formats and contract manufacturing if you supply the fabric.
